GoSpeech goes Green: Focus on sustainability through storage optimization

At a time when climate change is bringing our planetary responsibility to the forefront, sustainability is not just a buzzword, it's a commitment. At GoSpeech, we have put this idea into action and proudly present our latest release - an initiative that not only drives efficient speech technology, but also actively contributes to reducing our carbon footprint.

The challenge of storage waste: a look at the ecological footprint

The digital world is booming, and with it the demand for storage space is increasing exponentially. But with this increasing digitalization comes an often overlooked environmental issue: storage waste. Unnecessarily occupied storage space not only contributes to higher costs, but also has a serious impact on our environment. The provision and operation of storage infrastructure requires energy, which in turn leads to CO² emissions.

GoSpeech sets standards: Automatic deletion of inactive free accounts

Our latest release marks a significant step towards sustainable practices. In order to minimize storage waste, we have decided to automatically delete all free accounts that have not been used in the last 3 months. Of course, this will not happen without warning. Before deletion, the affected users will receive a reminder to give them the opportunity to actively use their account and thus prevent deletion.

Environmentally friendly figures: 800 KG CO² savings in 2024

This measure is expected to result in us deleting a significant number of inactive free accounts. This not only represents a more efficient use of our resources, but also contributes to significant CO² savings. According to calculations, we assume that this deletion action will result in a reduction of around 800 kilograms of CO² equivalents in 2024. This is a significant contribution to reducing the burden on our environment.

The global perspective: A look at the Federal Environment Agency's article

These steps are particularly important when we consider the figures from the Federal Environment Agency. The provision of digital services and cloud computing contributes significantly to CO² emissions. The Federal Environment Agency's research makes it clear that the operation of data centers in Germany alone causes millions of tons of CO². At GoSpeech, we are aware of this global challenge and are implementing targeted measures. (To the article)

Responsibility from the source to the end product: DIN EN 16247-1 certification

We go beyond reducing storage waste and take a comprehensive approach to sustainability. Our server provider has DIN EN 16247-1 certification, which forms the basis of an energy audit. This certification ensures that not only our product but also the underlying infrastructure is operated in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

Vision for the future: technology and the environment in harmony

"GoSpeech goes Green" is not just a slogan, but a promise. We not only focus on innovative speech technologies, but also on environmental awareness. We hope that our commitment to sustainability will serve as an inspiration not only within our industry, but also beyond. Reducing storage waste is not only a step in the right direction, but a milestone on the road to a green future. At GoSpeech, we are proud to do our part for a more sustainable world and invite our users to join us on this journey.

The cost savings achieved by optimizing storage space will allow us to continue offering the free account. This move allows us to make our services accessible to a broad user base while minimizing our environmental footprint. We believe that sustainability and accessibility can go hand in hand and are committed to ensuring that our technology remains both environmentally friendly and affordable for all users.
